Hi from NY!

Postby kyylieeeeee » May 16th, 2017, 11:10 am

Hello everyone!
This weekend I picked up a 2015 TU250x, my first bike! I think it was fate-- I'd been eyeing this model for a few months, and the day I finished the MSF BRC, this one popped up on Craigslist (with the seat I wanted, too!).
I definitely still need a fair amount of parking lot/back road practice, so I'm keeping it chez my parents in the Hudson Valley for the summer. But I hope to bring it to Brooklyn eventually to use for my daily commute to the city. I'm excited to have graduated from the back of my boyfriend's Bonneville and moved on to my own motorcycle!

On a related newbie-note, if anyone has recommendations for favorite women's jackets, I want to shop for a good jacket ASAP!

Howdy and welcome! You'll certainly enjoy your TU much more than the back of your boyfriends bike! Practice, practice, practice!! The street is a terrible place to learn to ride.

If you have a Cycle Gear near you I would start there in your jacket search; I am always leery of purchasing things that are supposed to fit online. But be careful at Cycle Gear; while the sell some nice stuff and some REALLY nice stuff they also carry some rather inexpensive cheapo stuff. Their house brand Bilt comes to mind. I have bought a couple of Bilt products and without fail I have replaced those items in short order.

Be safe

Firstly congratulations on the purchase!
The TUX is a gem!
Secondly my recommendation for riding gear is eBay. I buy all my stuff there and find stellar deals. I'm not into one brand but the best deal I can find.
I bought my Girlfriend's leather jacket there for cheap for it was on clearance. I also find the best deals in With get months...
Have fun and ride safe!

I like using RevZilla for gear because there are not many local options in my area and if something doesn't fit right or you don't like it for whatever reason, you can send it back to RevZilla, you only pay return shipping. I have a scanner that tracks new sales from them to let me know about it because most motorcycle gear is too expensive for my taste. Here are some of their current top closeout women's jackets. Just add http://www.revzilla.com to the front of the url:

Thanks for the warm welcome and suggestions, everyone! Yesterday was my first real ride (unfortunately I had a four-week gap in between purchasing my bike and actually being able to hop on)-- spent hours in a parking lot practicing, and finally just needed to jump in and took an 18-mile ride with my boyfriend and his dad. It was great to be out with two experienced riders. It was terrifying and amazing at the same time, can't wait to go back next weekend for more! :)

Looking good. I am new female rider as well. Haven't put a pic up yet. I know everyone is supposed to upsize to bigger bikes, but I just downsized to a TU250. Much happier, and more in control.

I couldn't help notice the the buildings in the background look a lot like those in the Cedar Crest community in Florida, NY. If they are, you were a couple of miles from our home. My wife and I both ride TUs. Maybe we could all go for a ride sometime. Michael.
